Opening Champagne

There’s nothing more festive than the sound of a champagne cork popping. Opening champagne at Buvette is an opportunity to create a feeling of celebration – a moment when guests look up from their own space, strike up a new conversation, or join in the festivity.

Tips for opening sparkling wine: Always point the bottle away from people and glass! Keep your thumb or palm over the cork throughout the process in case the release of pressure causes the cork to unexpectedly pop. Remove the foil and loosen the metal cage (muzzle), but keep the cage in place to help grip the cork. Tilt the bottle 45 degrees. As you hold firmly to the cork and cage, twist the bottle, not the cork. Twist slowly at first, letting the cork move gradually out of the bottle into your palm. Once most of the cork is out of the bottle, release it the rest of the way, keeping your palm in place to catch the cork. Instead of sighing, let it pop!
